There were two versions of the Visa GTi. The original one was launched in
January 1985 with 105bhp from the new PSA 1580cc XU5J 180A engine.
The slightly revised second version came with the same size 1580cc XU5J but in the A B6D spec.
This had a modified cylinder head and camshaft to increase the power output to 115bhp although the torque suffered
slightly due to this. This model was known as the 115ch indicated by the stickers on the side. Other minor changes were
made to the interior and suspension was stiffened slightly.
Engine Four-cylinder, in-line; aluminium block with
replaceable liners, aluminium alloy cylinder head. Five
main bearings. Single overhead camshaft driven by
toothed belt. Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection.

Visa GTi 16v
The Visa I use for sprints and hillclimbs has
its stroke extended to give a capacity of
1905cc. The Head comes from a 1998 Citroen BX
16v. There has been mild gasflowing and the head
and exhaust manifold are ported. A pair of Piper
264 duration fast road cams have been put in.
The standard air filter box has been replace by
a K&N induction kit. There is a single
silencer at the rear.
The engine with a standard head and cams puts
out 160bhp and 133ft/lb and my one puts out
around 170bhp and 140ft/lb. It has been
manually timed at just under 6.5 seconds to 60
and around 15 seconds to 100. This is due to the
high bhp/ton rating as the car in its stripped
out state weighs around 800kg giving over
200bhp/ton.
